CMS has announced increased maximum broker commissions for 2022 Medicare Advantage (MA) and Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) enrollments.
The increase in broker commissions comes for the seventh year in a row, allowing for the continued growth of Medicare Advantage and PDP renewals and initial enrollments.
REMEMBER: insurance providers are not required to pay the maximum Medicare commission rate, and compensation varies by carrier.
Here is a breakdown of the CMS commission increases for 2022.
Medicare Advantage Maximum Broker Commissions
The Medicare Advantage maximum broker commissions are broken out by state and region.
- On a national level, MA commissions increased to $573/member/year for initial enrollments, and $287/member/year for renewals.
- For Connecticut, Pennsylvania and District of Columbia, MA commissions increased to $646/member/year for initial enrollments, and $323/member/year for renewals.
- For California and New Jersey, MA commissions increased to $715/member/year for initial enrollments, and $358/member/year for renewals.
- For Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, MA commissions increased to $394/member/year for initial enrollments, and $197/member/year for renewals.
Medicare Part D Maximum Broker Commissions
The Medicare Part D maximum broker commissions were increased the same for all states and regions.
- Initial enrollment commissions increased to $87/member/year.
- Renewal commissions increased to $44/member/year.
